SHREVEPORT, La. – A 19-year-old Texas woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly leading police on a chase from Dallas to Bossier City, Louisiana in a stolen ambulance.
Kendall Tyson, of Dallas, was booked into the Bossier Parish Jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, aggravated flight, resisting by false information, misrepresentation during booking, driving while intoxicated and no driver’s license.
On Sunday, troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police (LSP) Troop G were notified to be on the lookout for a stolen ambulance from Dallas, last seen traveling east on Interstate 20 in Texas, according to a news release from LSP.
Troopers located the stolen ambulance at around 5:45 p.m. on Interstate 20 near mile post 8. They attempted a traffic stop but the driver, later identified as Tyson, failed to stop. A high-speed pursuit then ensued, police said.
“Troopers pursued the vehicle eastbound on Interstate 20 through Caddo Parish and into Bossier Parish. The pursuit encountered slowed traffic which enabled the Troopers to bring the pursuit to an end near the Airline Drive exit,” read the news release.
She was taken into custody without incident.
Officers reported “observing Tyson to have an obvious impairment level,” once Tyson was in custody.
“Louisiana State Police will always remain present on the highways throughout the state. Proactive enforcement reminds the public to obey all traffic laws and reduces criminal activity. Louisiana State Police is proud of the hard work and dedication of our Troopers,” read the news release.
