Snickers takes on robocalls, internet culture with Super Bowl ad

Snickers just took a jab at the tech industry and internet culture during the Super Bowl, and people on Twitter thought it was pretty clever. 

The American candy maker aired a commercial Sunday night spotlighting modern societal issues like taking selfies in risky places, receiving spammy robocalls and using smart home products that are probably “spying.” 

The ad created by BBDO New York and AMV BBDO also draws attention to sexting, unreliable autocorrect and people using smartphone speakers in public.

“The world is out of sorts (so messed up!) We need to fix it quicker,” a horde of people sang as they walked to gather around a massive hole in the ground. 

The solution to today’s problems was dropping a massive Snickers into the hole, which a couple fell into while trying to capture the perfect selfie.

“We’re going to fix the world, by feeding it Snickers,” the group sang. 

In January, the company made the Guinness Book of World Records after creating what’s been dubbed the world’s largest chocolate nut bar, which weighed 4,728 pounds.
