You never know when or where you might fall in love.
The same is true for celebrities. Actress and producer Sarah Michelle Gellar celebrated her 20 year anniversary with Freddie Prinze Jr. with a sweet post on Instagram Friday.
Two decades ago, she and Prinze had a dinner scheduled with a friend. Their mutual friend ended up missing the dinner but they decided to catch up anyway. Little did they know just what a big deal that dinner would be.
Gellar shared the sweet story of how their love came to be in the caption of her post, two photos side by side of the couple.
“20 years ago this week, my friend @realfreddieprinze and I were supposed to have dinner with a mutual friend from out of town. That friend missed her flight, but we decided to still meet and catch up. Now 20 years together, 17 plus married and two kids, we still go to that restaurant for dinner.”
She continued on to thank their friend “for not showing up for dinner.”
According to People, the pair met on the set of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” a 1997 thriller. They also acted in “Scooby Doo” (2002), “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed” (2004) and a couple others.
In 2016, on a Facebook Live, Gellar and Prinze talked about their dating life, and their first date.
“A lot of girls back then were very, in Hollywood as far as the actresses, didn’t eat, they ate salad. And I had gone a date with a handful of them and they would never eat what I would eat and you have to have that in common with me if we’re going to get along,” Prinze explained.
Gellar ate everything. Prinze said he was like, “Yo, my girl is legit.”
The couple was married in 2002 and share a daughter, Charlotte Grace Prinze, 10, and a son, Rocky James Prinze, 7.
