Dodgers land former MVP, David Price from Red Sox

It’s the Trade of the Century Part II.

Well, at least the greatest trade the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers have consummated since that monstrosity in 2012.

The Dodgers and Red Sox have agreed on a trade that will send outfielder Mookie Betts and starter David Price to Los Angeles, according to an official with direct knowledge of the discussions.

The official spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because the deal was not yet finalized.

Boston’s return package is expected to include outfielder Alex Verdugo as the top prospect involved.

There wasn’t $260 million of salaries involved like their nine-player trade eight years ago involving Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez and Josh Beckett, but that trade didn’t include a talent like Betts, who won the 2018 American League MVP award and Price, a former Cy Young winner.
