Giants exclude Aubrey Huff from 2010 World Series reunion over tweets

When the San Francisco Giants reunite this season to celebrate their 2010 World Series championship, former first baseman Aubrey Huff won’t be invited, the team said on Monday.

“Earlier this month, we reached out to Aubrey Huff to let him know that he will not be included in the upcoming 2010 World Series Championship reunion,” the Giants said in a statement emailed to The Athletic. “Aubrey has made multiple comments on social media that are unacceptable and run counter to the values of our organization. While we appreciate the many contributions that Aubrey made to the 2010 championship season, we stand by our decision.”

Huff played an integral part to the championship team. He led the club in home runs (26), RBI (86) and finished seventh in the National League MVP voting that season.

“Quite frankly, shocked. Disappointed,” he told The Athletic. “If it wasn’t for me, they wouldn’t be having a reunion. But if they want to stick with their politically correct, progressive (expletive), that’s fine.”

The 10-year reunion is scheduled for Aug. 16.

Aubrey Huff retired in 2012 after 13 major league seasons.

Huff, 43, is an active member on Twitter and has received a backlash for his often controversial, offensive comments on social media.

In January, Huff posted a tweet about kidnapping Iranian women and said “Let’s get a flight over and kidnap about 10 each. We can bring them back here as they fan us and feed us grapes, amongst other things.”
