Elton John to continue tour after ending show with walking pneumonia

Elton John intends to play his remaining shows in New Zealand and Australia, his tour promoters said Monday, a day after illness caused the singer to lose his voice and cut short a performance.

A visibly frustrated Elton John left the stage early on Sunday in New Zealand, then revealed he’d been diagnosed with walking pneumonia.

Video shared by fans on social media showed the sobbing star throwing his hands up in exasperation and apologizing to the crowd as he was helped off the stage.

At one point, John slumped on his stool and required medical attention, The New Zealand Herald reported. When he attempted to sing “Daniel,” he realized he had no voice left and ended the show.

Tour promoters Chugg Entertainment told the Associated Press John was resting and doctors were confident he would recover. They said a concert planned for Tuesday in Auckland would be delayed until Wednesday on the advice of doctors.
