Spectator dies at NHL outdoor game in Colorado Springs

A man died after Saturday night’s outdoor NHL game between the Colorado Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings in Colorado Springs.

The Air Force Academy, which hosted the game at Falcon Stadium, issued a statement Sunday morning confirming the death of a civilian who was not affiliated with the academy or the Department of Defense.

No details surrounding the death were released, although witnesses told the Colorado Springs Gazette the man fell to his death from a bridge just outside the academy’s north gate.

The man’s identity is being withheld until family members are notified. The incident is being investigated by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and local law enforcement agencies.
