Forrest City police say active shooter dead

FORREST CITY, Ark. – Two police officers were injured and a suspect killed Monday during an active shooter incident at a Walmart Supercenter in Forrest City, Arkansas, authorities say.

Arkansas state police said two officers with the Forrest City Police Department were injured during the shooting. “The prayers of the ASP are with the 2 Forrest City officers that were injured this morning in a shooting at Walmart,” state police tweeted.

Forrest City Police confirmed the shooter was killed.

Forrest City dispatchers confirmed around 11:40 a.m. local time that the incident was over. The extent of the officers’ injuries are unknown.

St. Francis County Coroner Miles Kimble said he was still at the scene around 12:15 p.m. but that he could not yet confirm any fatalities. 

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed on Twitter special agents were responding to the incident.
